Sükhbaatar is one of the major stations along the Trans-Mongolian Railway. In Fact, the Sükhbaatar Railroad Station is the very last Station in the North of Mongolia before striking the Russian Border. On the other side of the border lies the Russian Town of Naushki (Наушки) which is part of the Buryatia Republic of the Russian Federation. The Railway line up North connects to Ulan-Ude City and the Trans-Siberian Railway. The line to the South carries passangers and freight down to Ulaanbataar, the Capital of the Republic of Mongolia and beyond across Mongolia and down to the town of Ehrenhot, part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and situated just across the Chinese Border.

Sükhbaatar has a no National Airport. For the closest airport refer to Ulaanbataar City and Ulaanbataar International Airport. Ulaanbataar can be reached from Sükhbaatar by train. Trains leave for Ulaanbataar several times daily.
The nearest Airport is Ulaanbaatar International Airport, which is located near Ulaanbataar City.
Sükhbaatar was founded as late as the year 1940 AD during the Stalinist Era of Soviet Domination of Mongolia and Inner-Mongolia. It was thus named after the Mongolian revolutionary leader Damdin Sükhbaatar, a national hero and military Leader of the 1921 Revolution that established Mongolia as an Independent Nation, the Republic of Mongolia.
